We follow the Cambridge Curriculum.
We follow an international curriculum so learners may advance in their studies abroad.
21 St Century approach to education. : Learners to be guided to think independently, to use analytical skills and critical thinking skills. 21 St Century teaching is not only using technology.
We believe in communicating with universities / colleges to prepare learners for their careers. Specific career guidance. We believe that learners must acquire skills they will need in their studies and career / business.
Merely preparing learners to pass a test is not enough. Assessment and teaching in the classroom must occur on the same level. Learners are prepared to apply their skills with confidence. At Minkateko school our focus is learner centered individual education. Each child learns differently and this need has to be met in the classroom. We believe in working together with our parents and will always carry our student’s best interest at heart
The curriculum is based on each child’s needs and capabilities, the learners will work at their own pace which means they can even complete two grades in one year. The curriculum will also include hiking, rock climbing, cooking, gardening. At age 14 / Grade 9 Learners can choose to either write a CAPS Matric or Cambridge Matric. It depends on their career interest. Cambridge Matric will be written online at a Cambridge examination center.

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. The Montessori Theory is an approach to learning developed by Maria Montessori where the key principles are Independence, Observation, Following the Child, Correcting the Child, Prepared Environment and Absorbent Mind. The Montessori Theory approach, concepts and foundation principles can be applied across all ages. Montessori promotes a hands-on approach to learning versus a focus on seatwork
•Maria Montessori: For inappropriate behavior there are immediate consequences. Example instead of participating in a fun activity they will get extra Math or reading to do. Extra written work to do. (Ask parents to take away cell phone for a day / week depending on transgression) • •We only speak once …. Consequences to follow: Know, if you are going to do this, this is going to happen, immediate actions to follow: (Which is actually also good for them then – constructive discipline) • •Learners to be rewarded for improving / good behaviour: Choose to do a fun activity they like to do.
•Danny Silk: Loving our kids on purpose: Discipline is based on a love and respect and trust relationship. We don’t want to do anything that will harm the relationship / circle of trust.
